Hello all,
It's pretty intersting. I had read the first couple of chapters and never got into it, but now that it's been made into an anime, I thought I might as well watch it.
Anyway, my point is, the protagonist of the series is a kid named Ganta, hurled against his will into a terrible situation in which he has to fight in order to survive. He's very submissive, in his head a lot, and what one would consider "weak". A lot like Shinji. It's a regular motif in the series that he mutters to himself, "I wanna live. I wanna live." and so on. This reminded me quite a bit of Shinji's, "I musn't run away" statement.
The similarities don't run all that deep, but I guess I felt like sharing. Do any other readers/watchers relate Ganta to Shinji?
