Hidden in the rainforest landscape near the town of La Unión in southern Chile is a small cabin called 3×3 Retreat. Designed by Estudio Diagonal Architects , the small house was designed to create a sense of cohesion between the 'radical geometry' of the structure and the natural , organic essence of the site. The house was designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding forest landscape, allowing the true beauty of the site to shine through dramatically. The cabin aims to function as a comfortable, cozy and functional dwelling in the virgin forest, without disturbing or causing damage to the forest in the slightest. The Diagonal Architects Studio carefully selected the location. Thanks to this process of reflection, the cabin occupies a hillside on the bank of the Rimado River, so that the slope helps to enjoy a picturesque view of wild nature and the relaxing sound of running waters.

It also refers to the fact that the cabin has been divided into three sections. In addition, it rises 4.8 meters above the forest floor, as each of the two levels. This section is only accessible via a staircase, in an attempt to save space and make the section more private. Regarding construction techniques, local techniques were chosen, in an attempt to show their functionality and sustainability. Thus, it has become a peaceful and serene refuge that provides an oasis in a bold and dynamic forest.
